Stunning Christmas Make Up Looks To Recreate This Year

With the winter nights slowly drawing in and the cosy jumpers starting to make an appearance, one place I start to look is inside my make up bag.

What products have expired? What products are just for summer? Can I bring back any products that I loved this time last year that have not yet expired? Are there any new releases that I’d like to invest in?

Autumn is an ideal time to switch out products used to create minimal-effort looks that tend to rule summer, for makeup that you can easily take from day to night. With all the Christmas parties and dinners on the cards, this season is also the perfect time to be a bit more adventurous with your make up looks. After all, it is the season to sparkle!

But whether you’d like to play it safe or get out of your comfort zone with your Christmas make up look(s), below you can find a selection of stunning make up looks and ideas to recreate or use as inspiration for your own creation this season.

Apply Glitter To Sparkle Till Dawn

If you prefer the drama on your eyes, try a touch of shimmery pigment or glitter to open the eyes up and really make a statement. Golds and bronzes tend to flatter most skin tones.

My personal favourite pigments and glitters are made by Peaches and Cream. Peaches and Cream stock a vast range of shades for all, and a little really does go a long way. One of their best selling shades is their classic gold “Gatsby” and it isn’t hard to see why… It really is flattering on all skin tones. Otherwise “Famous” is a rich bronze sparkle which is amazing if you want to go bolder and looks amazing on deeper skin tones.

How to apply pigment and glitter

Depending on the type of look you would like to achieve, you can either apply your shimmer with a small packing style brush (like a PC35) or with your fingers. A wash of pigment patted over the eyelid with your ring finger will achieve a softer look that you can build up.

For less mess and an even finish, when working with glitters it is best to work with a glitter/pigment primer such as the NYX glitter primer first and then pat the glitter on top.

You can achieve a metallic looking finish by, again, starting with a pigment primer. The pigment will attach to the primer and will help it last all day long.

If you are a novice when it comes to glitter or on the go, the Jordana Ticia base and sparkle pots are brilliant. They come with a primer included and a little mirror, so everything you need is in one place for complete ease of application. Get ready to sparkle this Christmas.

Finish your beautiful eye look with a couple of coats of mascara and add false lashes to open eyes up for more impact and drama.

Try Foiled Shimmer Eyeshadow to create a glowing ‘halo’ effect on your eyes

An eyeshadow palette with foiled shimmers is a great alternative way to add that sparkle with complementing eyeshadow shades. Charlotte Tilbury’s Dreamgasm Luxury Palette is a stunning choice and one I turn to again and again for client looks. Bperfect also sell some fantastic eye palettes of all sizes ranging from your more universal neutrals with a good selection of brown, bronzey hues and shimmers right through to the more colourful palettes if you are looking for a brighter shadow and sparkle.

“What if (i hear you say) you simply are not a fan of glitter and prefer to leave the glitter on the disco ball?” The good news is that there are plenty of other ways to create a beautiful dramatic look.

Dial up the glamour with a Statement Lip

A timeless and iconic look which is even more prominent at Christmas is the red lipstick. This really is a classic.

A statement lip is a great way to lift your complexion and elevate your look to take you from desk to disco. This is my personal go to on the big day itself Christmas Day when there are always what feels like a thousand things going on and I want to add a quick touch of glamour that’ll take me through the whole day. If a red lipstick is not up your street, a burgundy, deep wine lipstick or liquid lipstick or a hot pink are also great alternatives for the party season. There are so many formulas, textures and shades in the shops today but my personal favourites for a statement lip are:
